What is boudoir photography?

It's a French word for "a lady's private room." We define boudoir sessions as photography that is tastefully risque and celebrates femininity.

Do I have to be nude?

No, nudity is not required for a boudoir session. We find boudoir sessions produce the best results when the photos tease something sexy instead of outright showing it. You will reveal as much or as little skin as you like, and we will work within your comfort zone to create some great photos. Remember: you are in complete control of the session!

I'm not a size zero!

Neither are we! Your size is of no concern to us, we will employ posing techniques and lighting to enhance your figure and make you look like a million bucks.

I've had a baby! I don't like the way my stomach looks!

Don't worry! We're great at posing and we'll place you so the camera only highlights your best features. We work with you to minimize your areas of concern.

What should I bring?

We will provide some items such as necklaces, bracelets, hats, and masks. Please bring your own lingerie, personal items (such as bridal veil, work shirts, jerseys, etc.), props, shoes, and accessories that you would like to incorporate into your session.

Who is there during the shoot?

In most instances, the photographer and an assistant will be the only people present during the shoot.

Should I feel uncomfortable with a male photographer?

Having worked with models for years throughout college and our professional careers, we can assure you this kind of photography is not as intimidating as you may think. For us this is just another artistic endeavor. We know modeling is hard enough, but doing so in skimpy clothes can be tough at first. We won't be asking you to do anything overtly sexual, and you'll guide every shot, pose, and location to make sure you are completely comfortable with everything.

Do you provide hairstyling and makeup?

Yes! We work with a professional stylist to make sure you look your best. Pricing starts at $49. Please contact us for more information.

Will you post my photos on your website?

As boudoir is very private by nature, we will never use your images for any advertisement or portfolio without your permission.

Can we have my session in a hotel?

Yes! So long as you book and pay for the hotel. If it is located beyond the St. Louis area a travel rate will apply. Please contact us for more information.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, but we find that actually inhibits our clients. Having too many people present during your shoot removes a lot of the intimacy.

Do you retouch photos?

Yes! Half of the magic comes after the shutter has already been released. Heroic will crop, resize, color correct, and touch-up your photos to create that picture-perfect look. We also do light retouching (skin belmishes, stray hairs, stretch marks, etc.), but we do not do extensive body reshaping.

How many photos will you take during my session?

We will typically a couple hundred photos during your session. After your shoot we choose the absolute best photos, enhance them to be even more wonderful, and usually deliver 25-50 photos.

How soon can I see and order my photos?

We provide some samples a few days after your shoot, and all of the processed photos 2-4 weeks later.

How do I order my photos?

When your photos are ready, we will contact you with a link to your private online photo gallery. From there you can view your photos and choose ordering options (sizes, paper types, etc.). Your gallery is available 24/7 from any computer that has an internet connection (even smart phones!). It is password protected for your privacy.

Why should I order my prints through you?

Great question! Heroic offers true professional lab printing services with an online a la carte ordering system. The color matching, ink, paper quality, and product selection is leagues better than what can be achieved at the kiosks you can find at a pharmacy or warehouse club. We can deliver everything from tiny prints to giant poster sized prints, all on top quality fade resistant paper and with precise color matching to make sure your prints look amazing. Plus we offer a wide variety of products, including canvas, metal prints, and more.

Do you offer photo books?

Of course! We offer an amazing selection of books in a variety of sizes, pages, styles, and finishes. They are professionally made and usually take about five weeks to design, print, and bind. Learn more about our beautiful photo books.

Do you offer a disc of the images?

Yes! All of our packages include watermarked copies of all your photos in a web-ready size and format. Unwatermarked copies with a full print release are offered as an option on all of our packages.

How early should I reserve my session?

The sooner the better! Our calendar fills up quickly, so be sure to pick out your date well in advance. If you plan on ordering a photo book, remember they take about five weeks to deliver.

Do you have a studio?
